Plant longevity and indeterminate growth are coupled with reproduction. Once a plant produces a predetermined number of seeds, apical meristems cease to divide and to form new flowers. This phenomenon, called global proliferative arrest (GPA), implies existence of a systemic signaling pathway linking seed production with shoot apical meristem activity. The goal of the project is to perform detailed analysis of apical meristem undergoing GPA and to identify genes involved in this process.
