Two projects from the MU Faculty of Science have advanced into the TOP 10 of Masaryk University’s ‘Start Your Business’ competition

Natural scientists Matej Zámečník, with his ‘Spicy Cell’ project, and Eliška Pivrncová, with her ‘LactoPads’ project, have made it to the TOP 10 of the ‘Start Your Business’ competition, and therefore move on to the second round. They can now work on improving their projects before they demonstrate them once again at the next presentation on April 24, 2024.

The Faculty of Science of Masaryk university has become an academic partner of the STARMUS festival.

The STARMUS festival, which brings together Nobel Prize winners, scientists, astronauts, thinkers, artists and musicians, will visit Bratislava from 12 to 17 May. This is the first time that the festival will come to Central Europe, giving visitors a unique opportunity to meet live with world-famous scientists and personalities from various fields. The Faculty of Science of MU has become academic partner of the festival and will present itself during the event as part of the accompanying Starmus Camp programme.

Natural scientists danced and sang at the ball

Natural scientists abandoned all normal laboratory and office duties and exchanged their white coats for evening gowns and suits when the Representative Ball of Masaryk University’s Faculty of Science took place on the first Saturday of March at Semilasso in Brno. Almost 330 visitors came to dance, sing and enjoy the evening’s great atmosphere with colleagues and friends. The Natural Scientists’ Society prepared a diverse program for everyone, with a midnight surprise featuring the highlight of the evening.

Career Restart for female scientists from MU Faculty of Science

The Grant Agency of Masaryk University (GAMU) awarded four out of twelve Career Restart grants to female scientists from our faculty. Martina Dvořáčková, Flavia Landucci, Petra Kolísková and Anežka Sharma were awarded one of the most important grants to support the research work of women. Congratulations!

Erasmus preparation: A new English course for studying abroad

The Language Centre at the Faculty of Science is launching a new course, English for International Mobility and Erasmus (JAERA), starting from the spring semester of 2024. This initiative stems from the feedback of students themselves, who often express difficulties navigating the paperwork associated with foreign trips. The course primarily focuses on language preparation for study stays or internships abroad, but it also welcomes students who have previously participated in an exchange or those who simply want to improve and practice their English skills.

PhD Thesis Defence in European Doctorate Mode

As a part of the MMD (MUNI Mendel Doctorandus) programme, the participants (PhD candidates) have the possibility of defending in the European doctorate mode. The successful graduate will receive the valued European doctorate and the PhD diploma. But what are the requirements for such a defence? Let's take a look at the example of Mgr.
