Tomáš Kašparovský, Dean of the MU Faculty of Science, has been elected as the new chairperson of the Council of Higher Education Institutions

The Assembly of the Council of Higher Education Institutions has elected Tomáš Kašparovský, Dean of Masaryk University’s Faculty of Science, as its new chairperson for the period 2024 to 2026. He received 163 out of a total of 189 votes.

The Jaroslav Heyrovský Foundation Award for Molecular Biology goes to the Faculty of Science

The Jaroslav Heyrovský Foundation Prize in the Molecular Biology category for 2023 was awarded to high school student Tereza Šustrová and her supervisor Martin Marek from the Loschmidt Laboratories at the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University, where the young researcher developed a project as part of the Secondary School Professional Activity.

Martin Toul wins the Doctorandus Prize in this year’s Česká hlava Awards

This year, Martin Toul from Masaryk University’s Faculty of Science was one of the winners of the highest Czech award for scientists and their patents and discoveries, Česká hlava 2023 (Czech Mind 2023). He received the Doctorandus prize, which is awarded to young scientists for research in the natural sciences, for his work on the functions of the staphylokinase protein, which is used to treat stroke patients.

Dr. Martin Toul receives the Ministry of Education Award for outstanding students and graduates.

This year, the MU Faculty of Sciences was one of the recipients of a Ministry of Education Award in the field of higher education, science and research. Along with 10 other winners from across the Czech Republic, Dr. Martin Toul, who successfully graduated this year from the Doctoral study program in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Genetics, received the award for excellent students and graduates and for extraordinary activity by a student.

PhD Day 2023: PhD is Just Beginning – Start Your Career!

Traditionally, PhD Day was held at the beginning of the autumn semester, this year, under the theme "PhD is just beginning - start your career!" Under this slogan, leaders of MU, representatives of the MU Rectorate, faculties and CEITEC Institute, as well as current PhD students shared their experiences and interesting tips with younger students and future PhD applicants.
